1. Who We Are

Ethernal Studio Ltd. operates the website ethernal.ca and the mobile game Books of Tiles. For privacy questions, contact us at contact@ethernal.ca.

2. Scope of This Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, retain, and protect information when you use Books of Tiles, visit ethernal.ca, join our waiting list, contact us, or use related services.

3. Information We Collect

Account information: such as name, display name, email address, login credentials, and account identifiers if account features are enabled.
Gameplay information: such as player progress, hero roster, levels, achievements, rewards, settings, and in-game activity.
Device and technical information: such as device type, operating system, app version, language, region, crash logs, diagnostics, performance data, and device identifiers used for security, analytics, or anti-cheat.
Purchase information: such as purchase history, transaction identifiers, receipt validation data, and subscription status if in-app purchases are enabled. We do not receive your full credit card number from Apple or Google.
Communications: such as messages you send to us for support, bug reports, feedback, or privacy requests.
Website and waiting-list information: such as email address, submitted forms, browser/device information, and basic usage data from ethernal.ca.

4. How We Collect Information

Directly from you when you create an account, join a waiting list, contact us, or use support features.
Automatically from the game or website when you play, interact with features, encounter errors, or use online services.
From platform providers such as Apple App Store, Google Play, Apple Game Center, or Google Play Games where applicable.
From service providers used for hosting, analytics, authentication, crash reporting, email, customer support, or payment verification.

5. How We Use Information

To operate, maintain, and improve Books of Tiles and ethernal.ca.
To create and manage player accounts.
To save and sync game progress.
To provide gameplay features, achievements, rewards, events, and support.
To process and verify in-app purchases.
To detect cheating, fraud, abuse, security incidents, and technical issues.
To analyze performance, crashes, and gameplay balancing.
To send optional newsletters, waiting-list updates, or game announcements where you have consented.
To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

6. Consent and Choices

Where required by law, we ask for your consent before collecting or using certain information. You may withdraw consent where applicable, unsubscribe from marketing emails, disable certain permissions in your device settings, or contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of your data.

7. Data Sharing and Service Providers

We do not sell your personal data. We may share information with trusted service providers that help us operate the game and website, such as cloud hosting, database, authentication, analytics, crash reporting, payment verification, email delivery, anti-cheat, and customer support providers.

Before launch, replace this placeholder with the actual services/SDKs used by the app and website. Only list services actually used: [Firebase / Unity / PlayFab / Supabase / Apple Game Center / Google Play Games / RevenueCat / AdMob / other SDKs]. Do not state that you do not collect a data category if a third-party SDK collects it on your behalf.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights, to prevent fraud or abuse, or in connection with a business transfer such as a merger or acquisition.

8. In-App Purchases

If Books of Tiles offers in-app purchases, payments are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play. We may receive limited purchase-related information, such as transaction identifiers, receipt validation data, product purchased, price tier, purchase time, and subscription status. Apple and Google process payment information under their own privacy policies.

9. Analytics, Crash Reports, and Diagnostics

We may collect analytics, crash reports, diagnostics, and performance data to understand how the game works, fix bugs, improve stability, balance gameplay, and improve user experience.

10. Device Identifiers, Security, and Anti-Cheat

We may use device identifiers, account identifiers, and gameplay activity to protect the game, prevent cheating, detect fraud, enforce fair play, secure accounts, and investigate abuse. We do not use persistent device identifiers for advertising unless this is clearly disclosed and consent is obtained where required.

11. Advertising and Tracking

At this time, Books of Tiles does not sell personal data. If advertising, personalized ads, or cross-app tracking are added in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy and request consent where required, including through platform permission systems such as Apple’s App Tracking Transparency where applicable.

12. Cookies and Website Data

ethernal.ca may use basic cookies or similar technologies for website functionality, analytics, security, and remembering preferences. If optional analytics or marketing cookies are added, we will provide appropriate notice and choices where required.

13. Data Retention

We retain personal data only for as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, including providing the game, maintaining accounts, supporting users, preventing fraud, complying with legal obligations, resolving disputes, and enforcing agreements. Account data is generally retained while your account is active. Some records may be kept longer where required for security, fraud prevention, tax, accounting, legal, or regulatory reasons.

14. Account Deletion and Data Deletion

If Books of Tiles allows account creation, you may request deletion of your account and associated personal data by contacting contact@ethernal.ca. If an in-app account deletion option is available, you may also use that option. We will delete or anonymize account data unless we are required or permitted to retain certain information for legal, security, fraud prevention, or legitimate business reasons.

15. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal data against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure. No online service is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

16. International Data Transfers

Your information may be processed in Canada or other countries where we or our service providers operate. These countries may have data protection laws different from your location. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

17. Children’s Privacy

Books of Tiles is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided personal information, contact us at contact@ethernal.ca and we will take appropriate steps to delete the information.

If we later choose to target children or include the app in a children/family category, this policy and our SDK usage must be reviewed and updated before release.

18. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, restrict, or object to certain processing of your personal data. You may also have the right to withdraw consent or lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.

Canada: You may request access to or correction of your personal information and withdraw consent where applicable.
European Union / United Kingdom: You may have rights under GDPR or UK GDPR, including access, correction, erasure, portability, restriction, objection, and complaint rights.
United States / California: You may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, and opt out of certain sharing or sale of personal information where applicable. We do not sell personal data.
Australia: You may have rights to access and correct personal information under applicable privacy laws.

19. Apple App Store and Google Play

When you download Books of Tiles through the Apple App Store or Google Play, Apple or Google may collect information under their own privacy policies. We do not control data collected directly by Apple or Google. Our App Store privacy labels and Google Play Data safety disclosures should match this Privacy Policy and the actual data collected by the app and its SDKs.

20. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the “Last updated” date. If changes are material, we may provide additional notice where required.
